Information you give us

When you create an account we store:

• Your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password itself.
• Your display name, and your profile photo if you upload one.
• Optional profile details you choose to add: a short biography, occupation and hobbies.

Information you contribute

The purpose of this app is to record family history, so the genealogy records you add — names, dates, places, relationships, photos and cultural articles — are stored and shown to other people using the app.

Please only add information about living relatives if you have their permission.

Information collected automatically

We keep basic, privacy-preserving analytics so we can see which parts of the app are used. For each page view we record the page visited, the referring page, a random visitor and session identifier stored in a cookie, your device type, your country, your browser's user-agent string, and how long the page was open.

We do not store your IP address, and we do not use advertising trackers or sell any data.

How we use your information

We use the information above only to:

• Run your account and keep you signed in.
• Show your contributions and attribute them to you.
• Moderate edits and keep the archive accurate.
• Understand overall usage so we can improve the app.

Who can see your information

Your email address is never shown publicly. Your display name, profile photo and the records you contribute are visible to other people using the app.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers. We disclose information only where the law requires it.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time, from the app under Profile → Account → Delete account, or on the website from your profile page. You will be asked for your password to confirm.

Deleting your account permanently removes your email address, password, display name, profile photo, biography, occupation, hobbies and any edit requests still awaiting review. This cannot be undone.

Genealogy records and cultural articles you contributed remain in the community archive, because other families' trees reference them and removing them would leave gaps in shared history. They are no longer linked to your account or shown under your name. If you need a specific record removed, contact us.

How long we keep information

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Analytics records are kept in aggregate to understand long-term usage trends.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in readable form. The site and the app communicate over encrypted HTTPS connections, and sign-in tokens are held in your device's secure storage.

No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you do not reuse elsewhere.

Children

Keeb Kwm is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect accounts from them. A family tree may of course name children as family members; that information is entered by an adult relative. Contact us if you believe a child has created an account.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
